In response to the invitation of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education for its activity on (Consultation for the design, development and implementation of a child protection policy) last Sept 15 – 16 2021 held at Kutawato Hall, Em-Manor Hotel, Cotabato City.
The BANGSAMORO DARUL IFTA’ BARMM assigned Sh. Talal A. Sabpa as resource person to present and discuss the Protection of Children in Islamic Perspective.
The presentation revolved around on this aspect:
First: Concept of Child in Shariah low, this point showed the definition of Child in Shariah low which is the childhood stage comes after the separation of the newborn from his mother’s womb on after birth, until he reaches the dream (age of puberty) and the age of commissioning. And also discussed here the different definition of Child between Islamic low and United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
Second: Devotional faith, in this part encouraged all parents to protect themselves and their children from hell fire in the day of resurrection by teaching them to worship Allah alone, and other good deeds.
Third: Protection of body and soul, in this part presented greatness of protection of child’s body and soul when Islam Takes care of pregnant or breastfeeding women and not harming her, and Islam does not obligate children to perform worship, and protects them from harmful work.
Fourth: Protection of mental and moral aspects, manifested that mentality has great importance in Islam, as it is the focus of responsibility, and with generosity of human and favor over all other creatures, and it is prepared to carry out the caliphate on the earth and bear the trust from Allah. Therefore, Islam forbids everything that affects the mind, harms it, or disrupts its energy, such as alcohol, hashish, and others.
Fifth: Creating a good family and society, encouraged men and women to marry who had a strengthen faith and good value. There is no doubt that this choice, and that basis, is of full benefit and direct interest to the child who is the fruit of these two righteous spouses, to grow up in a friendly and loving family, living under the teachings of Islam.
Finally, the presentation highlighted the child protection in the Islamic Perspective which is part of the Child Protection Policy Program of MBHTE-BARMM supported by the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ BARMM (BDI).
